Day 01: Cusco > Hydroelectric > Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town)

The trip starts early, at 7:30 a.m., leaving from your lodging and following the Cusco – Quillabamba highway where you can see beautiful landscapes and the possibility of seeing the snow-capped Verónica mountain. A detour from the highway allows you to reach Santa Teresa, where you make a brief stop for lunch.

After lunch, the journey continues to “Hidroeléctrica”, from where you begin the walk for approximately three hours until you reach Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town), where you will spend the night and the next day you will ascend to Machu Picchu.

Day 02: Hot Springs > Machu Picchu > Hot Springs > Hydroelectric Power Station > Cusco

The ascent to the citadel can be done in two ways:

1. Ascent on foot along the Inca trail, for an approximate time of 1 hour and 30 minutes.

2. Ascent by tourist bus on the road for an approximate time of 30 minutes.

Those who wish to climb the Inca trail should leave at 4:30 a.m. to arrive at the Inca city early and take advantage of the view with the sunrise.

Those who wish to ascend by tourist bus should board the first buses from 5:30 a.m., that way, they will also be able to appreciate the sunrise over the sanctuary.

After a brief wait in the access area to gather and once the doors of the sanctuary have opened, the tour will begin in the company of the guide through the most important points for a period of two hours. Take advantage of this moment to ask whatever you want. After this time, you can freely walk around the place for two hours and then descend to Aguas Calientes in the same way you ascended.

After lunch at noon, the return walk begins along the same route to the hydroelectric station. There is the option of returning by train from Aguas Calientes to Hidroeléctrica in a single service that leaves at 1:00 p.m. for an additional cost. At the last station, the vehicle is boarded to return to the city of Cusco, arriving at approximately 9:30 p.m.
